Elections 

La Habra Heights is a general law city governed by a five-member City Council. Terms of office for City Council Members are staggered, with three members elected at one election, and two the next. Pursuant to SB 415, the City’s next four General Municipal Elections are as follows:

November 7, 2017: Three seats, 5-year term expires November 2022 
November 5, 2019: Two seats, 5-year term expires November 2024 
November, 2022: Three seats, 4-year term expires November 2026 
November, 2024: Two seats, 4-year term expires November 2028  

As the local elections official, the City Clerk administers procedures through which City Council embers are elected. Additionally, the City Clerk’s office assists candidates, committees and voters before, during and after the election. 

Campaigns

The City Clerk serves as the local filing officer for the State of California, receiving all local candidate and campaign committee filings. Information, forms and manuals related to campaigns and committee formation are available on the Fair Political Practices Commission website

Voter Registration 

You may register to vote if you are: 
  • A citizen of the United States 
  • At least 18 years of age on or before Election Day 
Voters must be registered 15 days prior to an election in order to vote in that election. Voter registration forms are available at City Hall and on the County of Los Angeles Registrar/Recorder website: www.lavote.net

Presidential Primary Election - March 3, 2020

On March 3, 2020 registered voters will have the ability to cast ballots for federal, state, county, and local elections. Click the link to find out where your nearest Polling Centers are located. 

LA County is Modernizing the Voting Experience this year. The current voting experience is outdated and in critical need of modernization. Voters should be able to vote when, where, and how they want. The new voting system under Voting Solutions for All People is an important step to accomplishing these goals.

La Habra Heights City Hall is a Vote by Mail Drop-Off location. Residents can drop off their Vote by Mail Ballot at City Hall during regular business hours, Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The VBM Drop-Off Box will be available starting February 4, 2020 until Election Day, Tuesday, March 3, 2020. 

The Park will be an official LA vote Center. Voting dates and times at The Park are as follow
