The City has partnered with Nixle to provide an Emergency Notification System to alert residents in real-time about critical emergency information and community advisories in La Habra Heights.
Citywide Reverse 911 Test
A Citywide test of AlertLHH’s Reverse 911 system will occur on October 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Residents and business will receive a test message through multiple forms of communication (web-based media, text message, and telephone calls). This test is being conducted to determine the resilience of the system and to allow residents to be familiar with the system when an actual emergency does occur.
Residents will receive two consecutive phone calls with a recorded message announcing the test. The second phone call occurs to allow individuals and voicemail systems to listen to the message again. After the conclusion of the message, residents will be asked to confirm receipt of the message. The City urges residents to select the option as it will provided accurate results for this test. A text message and e-mail will also be distributed concurrently with the recorded phone call. Residents are advised not to panic.
How to Sign Up and Receive Notifications
To sign up for AlertLHH, scoll below and fill out the necessary information within the information boxes. To avoid text message fatigue, Nixle has created a tiered priority structure that will only send an alert via e-mail when both an e-mail and phone number are listed in the AlertLHH notification system. Notification designated as an immediate Red Emergency Alert bypass this priority structure and will be distributed through all forms of communication.
Notifications may be sent for wildfires, gas leaks, air quality issues, crime alerts, power outages, road closures, and weather related issues, etc. Subscribers have the ability to select how they would like to receive notifications. This could be to a home, cell or business phone, email, text message or hearing impaired receiving devices at no cost. Messages are initiated by City staff as one of several methods of relaying vital information to citizens. As a resident, there are several simple ways to register:
- To sign up for La Habra Heights specific alerts, simply text AlertLHH to 888777.
- To receive alerts from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department about the 90631 zip code, text 90631 to 888777.
