Same Day Voter Registration

Same Dat Voter Registration, known as Conditional Voter Registration in state law, is a safety net for Californians who miss the deadline to register to vote or update their voter registration information for an election.

Eligible citizens who need to register or re-register to vote within 14 days of an election can complete this process to register and vote at their county elections office or vote center. Their ballot will be processed and counted once the county election office has completed the voter registration verification process.

Have additional questions about locations where you can complete the Same Day Voter Registration process? Contact your county elections office.

Vote by Mail

ballot. You can choose to return it by one of three ways; for example by mail, remember no postage is necessary. You can drop off your Vote by Mail Ballot at any Vote by Mail Drop Box Location. You can also drop off your Vote by Mail Ballot at any Vote Center in L.A. County.

If your ballot is postmarked by Election Day and received within 17 days by our Department we will process, verify and count that ballot.

Los Angeles County wants to ensure that signatures are bound to change over time. If the signature on your Vote by Mail return envelope doesn't match what is in our voter registration database we will notify you by mail and ask you complete and return the Signature Verification Statement.

If you returned your Vote by Mail Ballot without signing the return envelope we will mail you a document called the "unsigned Ballot Statement" asking for your signature.

Your signature is required to verify your identity and process the ballot. You have up to 28 days after Election Day to return the statement for your ballot to be processed.
