After reviewing the latest guidance provided by the State and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the City of La Habra Heights is implementing temporary precautionary changes to City operations to protect the public and reduce community spread of COVID - 19. The following operational changes will become effective as of Monday, March 16, 2020, and will continue through the end of March or until further notice.
- All City facilities, including City Hall, will be closed to the public. However, City operations will continue during normal business hours with staff available to provide services and answer questions by phone or email.
- All City facility rental are cancelled until the end of March or until further notice.
- All services requiring in-person visits or public counter assistance will be suspended or made available by phone, online or through email. Please call City Hall at (562) 694 - 6302 for details on specific services.
- Fire Department emergency services will continue uninterrupted
- Sheriff’s Department services will continue uninterrupted
- The Dial-a-Ride program will remain in operation.
- The City Council Meeting scheduled for April 13, 2020 is under evaluation pending additional information from the State and County Health Department in coming weeks.
This notice will be updated as new information and guidance is provided by the State and the County Department of Public Health.

- California Governor Newsom announced new guidelines recommending:
- Californians aged 65 and older and those with chronic health conditions to isolate themselves from others;
- Closure of all bars, nightclubs, breweries and wineries;
- Restaurants decrease occupancies by half to better implement social distancing measures.
- Los Angeles Counnty has announced closure of all its buildings to the public, effective Monday, March 16, 2020. This includes the Los Angeles County Building and Safety Department used for City permitting. Online submittals will likely be implemented in the coming days.
- The CDC has issued a guidance for even organizers to cancel or postpone in-person events of 50 people or more for the next eight-weeks

- The President of the United States declared a National Emergency to release federal resources to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
- The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the State of California declared a public health emergency in response to coronavirus on March 4, 2020. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH), there are reported cases in Los Angeles County; while most cases have a known source, some reported by DPH are likely due to community transmission. Public Health is investigating these cases and will notify persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. All confirmed cases are being isolated and close contacts are quarantined. Currently, due to HIPPA laws, DPH has not disclosed patient names, locations, or any personally identifying information known as PII related to possible exposure or confirmation of the COVID-19 virus to cities.
